2017 Summer Kids Club is
gearing up for a Great Summer!

Ridgeway Community School will once again offer a comprehensive Summer Child Care program for students entering 4 Year Old Preschool (with previous preschool experience) through students entering Sixth Grade.

Days of Operation: The program runs from 6:30 am - 5:30 pm: Monday - Friday beginning June 5th an ending on August 25th. There will be no childcare on July 3rd or 4th.  The program will once again be under the direction of Mrs. Angie Kerkenbush.  We have weekly themes with activities, learning, and crafts tied into the theme. We go to the Ridgeway Community Library and an area pool regularly. In addition, we go on a variety of field trips to area parks and attractions.  There are structured activities each day as well as plenty of time for free choice and creative play.

2017 Summer Program features include:
* Program T-shirts - This year we will be purchasing Summer Kids Club T-Shirts for our participants to use during program outings.  Those children who attend regularly will be able to take their shirts home at the end of the summer.
* Free Lunch Program - Thanks to cooperation with the Winona Summer Feeding Program, Summer Kids Club participants, who order a day in advance, will be able to eat FREE sack lunches from the Winona Summer Feeding Program.

Registration: We still have openings for both regular and occasional participants so if you know someone else who wants to register please have them  complete the registration and health forms available on the 2017 SKC Registration Link and return them to the program with the required $20.00 non-refundable per child registration fee.

Fees: The  daily rates for the Summer of 2017 are $25.00 for the first child and $22.00 for additional children and hourly rates of $3.35 for the first child and $3.00 for additional children.  Families are billed every other week.   Summer Kids Club participants can either bring their own lunch or order a free lunch (a day in advance) from the Winona Area Public Schools Summer Feeding Program.  Summer Kids Club will provide a health morning and afternoon snack to all students participating.  Families are asked to provide their own sun screen and bug spray with your child(ren)'s name on it.  If you can provide a regular weekly schedule it will be very helpful in planning for staff and activities.

Staffing:  Once again this year our program will be directed by Mrs. Angie Kerkenbush.  Mrs. Kerkenbush is Ridgeway Community School's preschool teacher whose teaching license is for birth to grade 3 and 5th to 12th grade math.  Mrs. Kerkenbush rant the Winona YMCA Summer Childcare Program in 2016. In addition to Mrs. Kerkenbush, we will have regular assistance by our senior counselors, Miss. Vanessa Lee who is a Special Education Paraprofessional at Ridgeway Community School.  She will be joined by a new Summer Kids Club counselor, Eric Maas.  Eric is a social work major at Winona State University and is working with our After School Care program during the the 2016-17 school year. He will be returning to Summer Kids Club for the 2nd year.
Junior Counselors:  We are also accepting middle school and high school students who want to work as “Junior Counselors” in our  program.  Junior counselors must be (entering) 7th graders or older and participate in the club for FREE while assisting with program activities, usually working with the younger students, and get free admission to any field trips and special activities that they attend.  Those interested in participating as Junior Counselors should contact Jodi Dansingburg at the email above or call the school office.
Clothing:  This year we will assign children who are attending our program weekly their own larger locker in the hallway by the bathrooms.  Siblings will share these lockers.  This will allow participants to leave outerwear or a change of clothes in the school at all times.  Please also note that we ask that all those children attending summer kids club bring or wear closed toed shoes or sandals every day.  We try to do a lot of outdoor activities and in order for your child to participate safely they need to have sturdy shoes.  Also, if you child is unable to keep their shoes tied securely on a regular basis please send them with shoes that have Velcro or elastic closures so that they do not trip and injure themselves or expose their laces to germs  on the bathroom or other floors.
Library:  Our club participants will be able to use the RCS library on Thursdays between 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. to check out books.  We will email out a permission slip to get your permission for them to do this as you will be responsible for any lost or damaged books.
Sign in and Sign out – In order for you to be billed properly for your child’s use of our program, please accompany your child into school each day and come in to pick them up at the end of the day while making sure to sign them in and out on using the ProCare software program on the program's laptop

Schedules:  See the links on the left for updates on our weekly and monthly activity schedules.
