2019 Summer Kids Club is
gearing up for a Great Summer!

Ridgeway Community School will once again offer a comprehensive Summer Child Care program for students entering Kindergarten through students entering Sixth Grade.

Days of Operation: The program runs from 6:30 am - 5:30 pm: Monday - Friday beginning June 3rd and ending on August 23rd. There will be no childcare on July 1st - 5th.  The program will once again be under the direction of Mrs. Laurie Sennes  We have weekly themes with activities, learning, and crafts tied into the theme. We go to the Ridgeway Community Library and an area pool regularly. In addition, we go on a variety of field trips to area parks and attractions.  There are structured activities each day as well as plenty of time for free choice and creative play.

2019 Summer Program features include:
* Program T-shirts - This year we will be purchasing Summer Kids Club T-Shirts for our participants to use during program outings.  Those children who attend regularly will be able to take their shirts home at the end of the summer.

Registration: We still have openings for both regular and occasional participants so if you know someone else who wants to register please have them  complete the registration and health forms available on the 2019 SKC Registration Link and return them to the program with the required $10.00 non-refundable per child registration fee.

Fees: The  daily rates for the Summer of 2019 will stay the same as last year.  They are $25.00 for the first child and $22.00 for additional children and hourly rates of $3.35 for the first child and $3.00 for additional children.  Families are billed every other week.   Summer Kids Club participants will need to bring their own lunch.  Summer Kids Club will provide a healthy morning and afternoon snack to all students participating.  Families are asked to provide their own sun screen and bug spray with your child(ren)'s name on it.  If you can provide a regular weekly schedule it will be very helpful in planning for staff and activities.

Staffing:  Once again this year our program will be directed by Mrs. Laure Sennes.  Mrs. Sennes (Miss. Laurie) is a special education paraprofessional at Ridgeway Community School's.  She has assited with the Ridgeway Summer Kids Club program for the past two summers.   We will have regular assistance by our senior counselors, Mr. Brad Kanz, RCS 2nd and 3rd grade teacher;  RCS, Mrs. Lee Ann Drussell, RCS preschool assistant teacher; Mr. Matt Rakovec, RCS special ed. para; and Ms. Bailey Morris, RCS special ed. para.

Junior Counselors:  We are also accepting middle school and high school students who want to work as “Junior Counselors” in our  program.  Junior counselors must be (entering) 7th graders or older and participate in the club for FREE while assisting with program activities, usually working with the younger students, and get free admission to any field trips and special activities that they attend.  Those interested in participating as Junior Counselors will need to attend a short orientation session before they begin assisting with the program and may be required to assist one non-field trip day for each field trip they attend.
Clothing:  This year we will assign children who are attending our program weekly their own larger locker in the hallway by the bathrooms.  Siblings will share these lockers.  This will allow participants to leave outerwear or a change of clothes in the school at all times.  Please also note that we ask that all those children attending summer kids club bring or wear closed toed shoes or sandals that do not require tying every day, unless they are able to keep their shoes tied tightly in double by themselves.   We try to do a lot of outdoor activities and in order for your child to participate safely they need to have sturdy shoes.  [There are a wide variety of shoes that have velcro or elastic closures, and shoe lace accessories that do not require students to have to regularly tie their shoes and therefore reduce their expose their laces to germs  on the bathroom and other floors.]
Library:  Our club participants will be able to use the RCS library on a weekly basis and will be allowed to sign out books once we have received a signed parent permission form. Parents are responsible for the cost of replacing any lost or damaged books.

Instrument Lessons - Our music teacher, Mrs. Ahrens, will be offering a limited number of private summer instrument lessons (scheduled on a first come - first serve basis) through many weeks of the summer.  These lessons will be offered on Tuesday and are available on piano, guitar, ukulele, band and string instruments.
Sign in and Sign out – In order for you to be billed properly for your child’s use of our program, please accompany your child into school each day and come in to pick them up at the end of the day while making sure to sign them in and out on using the ProCare software program on the program's laptop

Schedules:  See the links on the left for updates on our weekly and monthly activity schedules.
