Ridgeway Community School Open Enrollment Period - Jan. 1 to 31, 2026
The Open Enrollment Period for students wishing to enroll at Ridgeway Community School for the 2026-27 school year is going on now through January 31, 2023. New students who register during the open enrollment period will be given equal opportunity to fill remaining spaces available in each of the kindergarten to 5th grade classes. Ridgeway also offers three fee-based Preschool Program Options: 3 mornings per week, 5 mornings per week, 5-full days per week with wrap around childcare. The preschool program is now enrolling students on a first-come, first-serve basis.
Several Open House events will be held at Ridgeway Community School’s this winter:
· Kindergarten Roundup Open House will be held on Tuesday, January 22nd from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. The event is geared for families who have a child who will be five years old by September 1, 2023 and would like to learn more about the school’s kindergarten to 5th grade academic and enrichment programs. Families planning to attend the Kindergarten Roundup Open house are asked to R.S.V.P. to the school office at 507-454-9566 or office@ridgewayschool.org.
· The 4th & 5th Grade Environmental Science Fair Open House will be held on Thursday, January 22nd from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the school’s multipurpose room. Students will be displaying and explaining their research on various environmental science projects.
· Little Jay’s Play Group - Open Gym and Story Time – Saturday, January 24th from 8:30 to 10:00 a.m. Families with children ages 2 to 6 are invited to stop in to Ridgeway Community School for some free Open Gym time, followed by a fun story and craft time in the school library. This is a family activity time so parents need to stay with their children. Younger and older siblings are welcome to participate, but activities will be geared towards 2 to 6 year-olds.
· Ridgeway Winter Family Fun Day and Little Jays Playgroup – Saturday, February 14th – 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. This event will feature outdoor fun opportunities weather permitting including sledding, cross country skiing, and snowshoeing. Indoor STEM and craft activities, and snacks will also be available. The Little Jays crew will be offering a story time and creative play activities geared for 2 to 6 year-olds as well. The event is sponsored by the school’s parent support organization Ridgeway Parents and Community (RPAC).
· Preschool Round-Up Open House – Thursday, February 19th – 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. - The event is geared for families who have a child who will be three to five years old by September 1, 2026 and would like to learn more about the school’s Preschool Programs. Families planning to attend the Preschool Roundup Open house are asked to R.S.V.P. to the school office at 507-454-9566 or office@ridgewayschool.org.
As a free public charter school there is no charge to attend Ridgeway Community School’s kindergarten to 5th grade elementary program. The school is overseen by an independent board of directors that is comprised of teachers, parents, and a community member. The Ridgeway Community School board has set the school’s class size limit at 18 students in each of the kindergarten through 5th grade classes. If there are more applications for student enrollment submitted during the Open Enrollment Period than there are spaces remaining in each of Ridgeway’s classes then a lottery will be held on February 3rd. According to state law, enrollment preference is given to siblings of currently enrolled students and children of school staff.
